Residents of the Memory Care Program at Village at Proprietors Green visited first grade students at Martinson Elementary School in Marshfield to share their love of reading. The residents visited with teachers Mrs. Beth Debyah and Mrs. Erica McHugh. The students enjoyed reading their favorite books to their “Book Buddies,” and the residents enjoyed their role as helpers. A shared love of reading is at the heart of the program.
Village at Proprietors Green resident Tom Barry is pleased to be paired with Martinson Elementary School student Jack Gilberti as a “Book Buddy.” Martinson student Evelyn Matos reads to Village at Proprietors Green resident Theresa Sullivan. As part of the visit to the elementary school, Village at Proprietors Green Head Activities Assistant Nancy Cipullo presents Martinson Elementary first grade teacher Beth Debyah with a huge basket of supplies for the classroom. Resident Arcely French beams as she works alongside student James Cannon during the “Book Buddies” reading program. Martinson Elementary first grade student Cavanaugh Ahmad and Village at Proprietors Green resident Kate Cunningham are perfectly matched for the reading program, as Cavanaugh reads Scholastic’s No, David! by David Shannon. Reading aloud is extremely helpful for young readers as student Matilda Coyne learns, working alongside resident Mary Hughes.
