Hosted by Village at Proprietors Green, the Marshfield Council on Aging’s Life-Long Learning Program – Pub Chat Series, recently featured Dr. James J. O’Connell discussing his book, “Stories from the Shadows: Reflections of a Street Doctor.” As a young Harvard Medical School graduate Dr. O’Connell was asked to pilot a program for the men, women, and children of Boston who are homeless. His stories of the three decades he spent caring for the homeless are told with grace and humanity. Today, Dr. O’Connell is the founder/president of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, which cares for more than 12,000 homeless and marginally housed individuals at 60 sites in the greater Boston area.
A crowd of 90 seniors from the Marshfield Council on Aging gathered at Village at Proprietors Green to listen to Dr. James O’Connell, author of “Stories from the Shadows: Reflections of a Street Doctor,” talk about the challenges facing people who are homeless.
